In the fever of the onset of COVID-19, Amanda Ray Cox and Shane Cox married and started Rooster Law Firm in the same year. As bankruptcy, domestic relations, and probate lawyers, they were overworked. Having a fiery daughter into the second year helped them realize "less is more." Eventually focusing solely on estate planning law and elder law, Rooster Law became known as Elder Legal Services. Amanda and Shane's last name was the inspiration for the original firm's name, as the term cox means adult male chicken, originally known as a cock in Old English. The first bearer of that surname was a fellow who bore a fancied resemblance to a rooster. Cox began being applied as a name both to folks who were early risers and those who proudly strutted around. The word rooster didn’t appear until 1772 due the term cock gradually falling out of favor as it eventually was considered rude. However, the name Cox continues strong as ever. Though they no longer handle divorces and such, they still share the Rooster name in reputation by protecting their clients, their families, and their assets. They may not strut, but they proudly craft custom legal plans designed to fit the needs of their clients.
